Frequently Asked Questions

Does anyone else do this?

No. This is a patent-pending method of delivery for pediatric intervention services based on a virtual, coaching-based model of programming. While there are apps marketed to help your child's communication development, as well as various methods of traditional therapy, there is not currently any other method that combines the convenience of an app with individualized expertise and feedback from a licensed therapist.

Why isn’t this considered therapy?

Because licensed therapists can only practice with clients who reside in the state the therapist is licensed in, and because rather than working directly with your child, the coaches here are empowering you with the tools, techniques, and programming necessary for you and your family to address communication delays at home within your normal daily routine through functional tasks and activities.

How is this different from other communication boosting apps I see online?

Most online programs or apps for speech development require the parent to find the programs, determine what is or isn’t applicable to their child, interpret how to implement it, and find ways to make it fun for their child. There isn’t feedback available, the tasks and programs aren’t individualized to your child, and it is up to the parent to adjust tasks and difficulties as their child progresses. KaBloom is built to replicate more traditional therapy, but with increased flexibility and adaptability for parents. You will have a coach assigned to provide consistent feedback, answer questions, and tailor programming specifically for your child and your lifestyle/schedule. Tasks are created to be fun, engaging activities that are age-appropriate and/or skill-appropriate for your child and can be easily incorporated into your busy week!

How do I get started?

Sign up for a trial week and fill out our initial intake form to schedule a screening call. One of our coaches, a licensed SLP in at least one jurisdiction in the United States, will help you to make a determination about your child’s needs as follows:

  • No areas of need at this time

  • Would benefit from KaBloom's coaching model

  • Refer to traditional therapy

If you and your coach agree that KaBloom Coaching could be a good fit for you, you will then be sent a week of intervention tasks and strategies catered to your child’s age and communication concerns via our app.

At the conclusion of the week, if you feel that this model would be beneficial for you and your child moving forward, you can sign up for your preferred model of programming to receive increased customization and feedback with ongoing support from one of our coaches. If this is the case, your initial $19 fee will be deducted from the first month of your chosen subscription plan. If you decide that this program is not for you, not a problem! You will not be automatically enrolled in any ongoing programming and will not be charged any further fees unless you choose to continue with an ongoing subscription.

How does the program work?

When you sign up for an ongoing subscription program that matches your needs, your coach will work with you to craft a plan tailored to your child’s needs and your availability to address those needs. This plan will be imported into an app for you to view, to log completed tasks, and to communicate with your coach, who will perform routine check-ins to monitor progress and flex the program as needed.

What if I’m too busy to complete tasks?

Your coach can program strategies into your daily routines, so that you can incorporate practice on communication skills into activities or routines that you are already implementing as a family. This may include strategies to work on during car rides, within bath time, during meals, in play time, or on community outings such as grocery shopping. Tasks can be moved to different days or adjusted in frequency to match your availability and time constraints. If you miss some tasks because the day got away from you, not a problem! If you’re on vacation or have a busy week, you can talk to your coach about modifying your programming that week or adding creative task options to match your needs.

Do you address developmental areas outside of speech and communication?

At this time, we are only staffed to address communication needs. We are looking to expand this into physical and gross motor development in the future, and would love to hear feedback for other areas that you feel would be beneficial for this model.

Do you take insurance?

Because we are based on a parent coaching model rather than direct interaction with clients, we are unfortunately not able to bill to insurance and are based on private-pay fees. We do our best to make this service as affordable as possible, and offer several different programming options at varying price points.

Do you offer any in-person services?

Our primary service model is virtual, app-based programing; however, in-person consults are available on a case-by-base basis within parts of the Kansas City area. Feel free to contact us with any questions or requests for in-person consults.
